Release and Dial Tool
The release tool is used to reduce stress and frustration, while the dial tool allows clients to control and adjust their energy levels appropriately for each unique situation.
“Am I too excited? I guess I better turn my dial down.” – a sixth-grade client
This eliminates the possibility of single letters, punctuation marks, uncommon fonts, phonetic symbols, and certain sounds triggering a disorientation.

These tools replace the negative reading habits with productive habits. The client is slowed down and must see each letter in its proper place. Another tool guides the client in comprehension appropriate for the picture-thinker’s learning style.

Symbol Mastery Tools
Mastery means certainty; knowing for sure what something means, looks like, and sounds like; knowing how to do something well; knowing something so well you don’t even have to think about it because it has become an integral part of your being. [Ex: I knew she had mastery of typing when I saw her fingers move so accurately.]
Davis® Symbol Mastery gives mastery and mental images to the approximately 219 “blank” words that trigger disorientation. 196 of these words are found in the Dolch list of sight words taught in the lower grades. This list of 219 was simply compiled by having several adult dyslexics go through the dictionary and make a list of words that had no picture – amazingly each of their lists were nearly the same, full of mainly very short, abstract words.

Clients teaching how to give support for the essential home follow-up.
After the Program
The client will leave the program with all of the tools, understanding, and materials necessary to implement the program into their every day lives and achieve positive results.
Davis Symbol Mastery® of 219 “trigger words” (those words that do not have a visual image) is an essential part of the correction of Dyslexia.
Support Training is provided on the last day for family members, tutor[s] and/or teacher[s] who will support the client in this follow-up.
Depending on the situation and age of the client, the support person may receive training in the follow-up by being present during the program.
